We want to call brothers and sisters in Christ from all denominations and traditions to pray for our state so we can see together the hand of the Lord bringing His transformation to every institution and sector of our society.

We seek to accomplish this by sending out a regular prayer guide for the state and by coordinating regular prayer gatherings around the state.

Génesis

El suplemento Valores Religiosos surgió por iniciativa del presbítero Guillermo Marcó, director de la Oficina de Prensa del arzobispado de Buenos Aires. Marcó se inspiró en el suplemento Alfa y Omega, que semanalmente aparece con el diario ABC, de España, producto de un acuerdo entre el arzobispado de Madrid y el periódico. En la Argentina, Marcó presentó la idea a Clarín – el diario de habla hispana de mayor circulación en el mundo - que inmediatamente aceptó la propuesta.

Quiénes somos

Al igual que en España, para canalizar la propuesta se conformó una asociación civil sin fines de lucro –Trabajar para la Caridad - compuesta por un grupo de laicos comprometidos encabezados por el licenciado Luis Crego. Se acordó que el editor periodístico fuera Sergio Rubin, premio Santa Clara de Asís, quien desde hace más de una década está a cargo de los temas religiosos en Clarín. El padre Marcó es el asesor editorial y columnista habitual.

La propuesta

El suplemento muestra el quehacer religioso, los hechos y opiniones del vasto campo de la Iglesia católica y las demás confesiones, las problemáticas espirituales de nuestro tiempo con un estilo ameno y un espíritu ecuménico e interreligioso. La idea es que el lector se interese por las cuestiones religiosas que tienen diversas manifestaciones en la vida de la sociedad. Porque se busca la promoción de los valores religiosos, su encarnación en la vida cotidiana y en una cultura que parece adversa a una mirada trascendente.

Este es un sitio Web creado con la finalidad de colaborar en la tarea evangelizadora profundizando en la apologética. Estamos conscientes de la necesidad de conocer a fondo la propia fe para poder dar razón de ella a hermanos de otras confesiones religiosas, y por eso hemos querido en este sitio publicar estudios bíblicos patrísticos e históricos sobre apologética y ecumenismo, para todo el pueblo católico (y para quien nos quiera leer).

Pensamos que la apologética y el ecumenismo deben ir de la mano, y por eso encontrará en este sitio Web no solo material de apologética, sino también sobre ecumenismo. Tenemos la certeza que la verdadera unidad es la que exige el evangelio es una unidad en mentalidad y juicio (1 Corintios 1,10), y de allí que se hace indispensable un profundo conocimiento de la fe católica para quienes desean trabajar en el diálogo ecuménico e inter-religioso.

The journal is inter-denominational and inter-religious, representing a broad intellectual tradition of Christian and Jewish critique of contemporary society. Published by the New York-based Institute on Religion and Public Life, it is published monthly, except for bi-monthly issues covering June/July and August/September. Newsweek called First Things "the most important vehicle for exploring the tangled web of religion and society in the English-speaking world.

The Center of Concern researches, educates, and advocates from Catholic social tradition to create a world where economic, political, and cultural systems promote sustainable flourishing of the global community.

Our Vision

We envision a global community that upholds basic human rights and human dignity, fosters just relationships, promotes sustainable livelihoods, and renews Earth.

The Center of Concern is a faith-based organization working in collaboration with ecumenical and interfaith networks to bring a prophetic voice for social and economic justice to a global context. The Center is both a provider of information and analysis as well as a catalyst for launching projects to address issues or opportunities that advance an authentic human development agenda. Through analysis, education, advocacy and capacity building, the Center challenges structural injustice and promotes innovative economic alternatives.

Effective Strategies

To advance our mission, the Center of Concern has adopted three overarching strategic goals:

1.    Influencing Public Policy
•     Give the voiceless a voice at the tables of power
•     Critique policy for those in leadership and for the general public

2.    Exercising leadership in national and international circles
•     Provide leadership and moral vision to advocacy networks working for more just institutions and policies in the U.S. and in the international arena

•     Develop theological/social reflection
•     Articulate a call to justice for the faith community

Our Work

For 40 years, the Center of Concern has been enabling individuals, organizations and coalitions to:

1.    Explore and analyze the global issues and social structures from an ethical perspective based on Catholic Social Teaching
2.    Become involved in strategies and projects that promote the good of the entire global community and the integrity of every individual.

Since 1971, the Center of Concern has offered moral vision and provided effective leadership in the struggle to end hunger, poverty, environmental decline, and injustice in the United States and around the world. Our goal is to provide individuals and organizations with basic tools to addressthese universal questions: What are the root causes of human suffering in the world today? How can we change systems to increase social justice and offer hope? We provide reliable information and analysis on development issues, practical alternatives to current development policies, practical suggestions for personal action, and faith reflections on this work for justice.

As peoples of differing faiths and cultures, we affirm common values of justice, peace, participation, human rights, ecological inter-relationship, and compassion as cornerstones of a healthy society.

Seeking the common good in Canada is a tradition long-lived by peoples who have struggled to be a community in the rugged beauty of this land. The harsh climate, the distances, and the inter-mixing of peoples have challenged us, yet we have also been sustained by the belief - still valid today - that this land and people have tremendous opportunities ahead.

The world community, and Canadians themselves view this northern place as a land of opportunity and tolerance; a place to create a home where peace, fairness, democracy, ecological well-being, economic opportunity, and seeking the common good are a way of life.

Yet we increasingly live in a competitive era of brand-name consumerism and mega-market homogenisation. Faith & the Common Good is an initiative asking Canadians what values we believe should form our communities - small and large.

Faith & the Common Good is intentionally being inter-faith and inter-cultural in its organisation and objectives because this is Canada now, and increasingly will be in our future. To live inter-faith/inter-culturally in a spirit of the common good is our vision for Canada.

WHAT IS A COOL CONGREGATION?

Every year, hundreds of congregations sign-up to become a recognized “Cool Congregation.”  What’s the big attraction? Cool Congregations express their love of Creation and their concern about global warming by being part of the solution.

Cool Congregations strive for energy efficiency and conservation; use renewable energy; create climate-friendly grounds; and inspire people to do the same in their own homes and communities.

Cool Congregations are in alignment with their denomination’s statement on climate change.

In the process, they save money on energy bills and develop a closely knit community.

A COOL CONGREGATION . . .

Forms a leadership “team” of dedicated individuals;

Achieves at least 10% in energy savings (and carbon footprint reduction) within the house of worship and/ or within households;

Can be of any faith tradition or denomination.

The list of Cool Congregations is growing in leaps and bounds by the year. Cool Congregations is a program of Interfaith Power & Light (IPL), a non-profit organization based in San Francisco, California with affiliates in 40 states and DC.

CORE VALUES

The core values of the Cool Congregations program are rooted in the mission of Interfaith Power & Light, which responds to global warming through the promotion of energy conservation, energy efficiency, and renewable energy.

IPL strives to protect Earth’s ecosystems, safeguard the health of all Creation, and ensure sufficient, sustainable energy for all. While IPL offers many programs, Cool Congregations is designed to provide support to congregations that are “walking the talk” through actual carbon footprint reducing activities.
Global warming is one of the biggest threats facing humanity today.

The very existence of life — life that people of faith are called to protect — is jeopardized by our continued dependency on fossil fuels. Every major religion has a mandate to care for Creation. We were given natural resources to sustain us, but we were also given the responsibility to act as good stewards and preserve life for future generations.

The mission of this website is to promote and explain the teaching of the Second Vatican Council (1962-65) which was the most significant event in the modern era of the Catholic Church. The Council was instrumental for renewal in the self-understanding of the Church, its inner life and its relationship to other Christian traditions, other religions and the world. Those participating in or who lived through the time of the Council felt a profound, exhilarating sense of renewal and virtually experienced a new Pentecost.

Camino Misionero

Consideramos que toda actividad misionera debe tener las vertientes lógicas que Jesús nos ha enseñado para poder expandir la Buena Noticia. Ellas son un carisma donado por el Espíritu Santo y apoyado en la fuerte espiritualidad que lo sostiene; una adecuada formación filosófica, teológica, social y especifica de su actividad; y un marcado acento en la Oración (personal y comunitaria), el estudio de la Palabra y una vida sacramental puesta al Servicio del Padre, a través de los hermanos.

Sólo así, una actividad humanitaria y apostólica se convierte en cristiana, lo que nos diferencia de una organización de bien público.

Es por ello que las redes comunitarias que deben tejerse para un intercambio de experiencias y material afín, se hacen necesarias y urgentes dentro de nuestra Iglesia Católica, para impedir un excesivo avance del laicismo y el ateísmo.
