Henry Nouwen Society

About The Henri Nouwen Society

The purpose of the Henri Nouwen Society is to foster the spirituality of solitude, community and compassion that was embodied in the life and teaching of Henri Nouwen.

The Society does this by:

Developing programs and resources that make the spiritual vision of Henri Nouwen widely available within the United States and Canada;

Creating opportunities for people from all walks of life to nurture and develop their spiritual life;

Creating a network of Society friends who support the work of the Society.

Current activities of the Henri Nouwen Society include book distribution to those in need, development of HenriNouwen.org, sponsoring retreats and institutes, curriculum and guides for reading groups, and an innovative program offering distance spiritual direction.

The Society’s growth and development is supported by a Board of Directors who is also responsible for raising the financial resources needed for the work of the Society.

Friends of the Henri Nouwen Society form a network of people across North America whose lives have been enriched by Henri Nouwen’s life and writings directly or through the work of the Society. Friends help to extend the work of the Society in a variety of ways.

Please consider becoming a Friend of the Henri Nouwen Society. We will send you regular information about the work of the Society and offer you various opportunities to get involved in ways that are appropriate for you.
